I bought a Goal Zero 7 watt panel. Love it! You can charge AA or AAA batteries. Then use them in cameras or headlamps etc. or charge via USP from the battery pack. It also has a 12v car type plug, so anything you charge in your car you can charge with the panel. You can also charge the battery pack via USP before you leave on the trip. Picked mine up new on E-bay for $70. Best system I've found. I agree with Avatard, stay away from inverters if you can, you lose too much energy jumping from DC to AC then back to DC. It will charge my camera, Ipod in a few hours. Bought some extra batteries, so I always have some charging, as well as in my headlamp.

i have had luck with the goal zero charger/battery pack solution. I launched in Jan, and I was able to charge most of my groups batteries with the setup I had. Only drawback is sun is a necessity, but we didn't have any trouble with that...! enjoy the trip!
