i bought one for this purpose among others....here is the scoop, i bought a sixsixone and it has been great the two times i've used it. I talked to the guys over at 661 before i took it in the water. They said it should be fine. I haven't noticed any problems but there is one major downfall, these helmets are made for single impact. 661 has a replacement policy but its a pain if you hit anything. and you really cant tell if the water is doing any damage that isn't visable...i've since stopped using mine for creeking saving it for skiing/DH and went back to my protec plastic multiple impact and i might be upgrading to something a little better but open face and not one meant for other purposes. my two cents
