Best 70L dry duffle bag
I am looking for a 70 L dry DUFFLE bag, for food storage on a 5+ day trip. We just got a 110 L from NRS, and it is great, but a bit more than we need for food. Their next size down is 50, and that is too small. They have a nice 70L, but it is clear PVC on the top and I am afraid that just won't be durable enough, especially with dogs running around on the pile of gear. The thing I like about the NRS bags is the side are a triangle, so the mouth is huge. Our price range is under $70, so the spendy bags are out.

Ideas?

I got the NRS Access Dufflel a few weeks ago - 55 bucks. It's pretty rugged and they offer an 'expected use' warranty. We plan on using it to pack food / clothes and other light weight stuff. The bottom insert does a good job of keeping the bag rigid without adding weight.

Like most clear material your biggest problem will be some opaqness (sp?) after its been in the sun for awhile. If your dogs are less than 60-70 lbs I doubt their claws will poke through or do any real damage.

It should be noted that we didn't dunk the bag to make sure it stays bone dry. The rollup top v. zip up top is where the money savings comes in. I'd take your chances assuming that you will roll the bag tight and won't submerge it for an extended period of time.

One of the best, and driest bags I've ever had is a clear bag. The material seems to stick together better than most bags and being able to see what you're hunting for is an incredible bonus and worth a few extra bucks or a little shorter lifespan. The bag lasted me about 5 or 6 seasons before it finally tore at the buckle (never lost any clarity and can still be used if I want to take it on the river).

Good luck finding what you're hunting for. If this is for the Lower Flathead trip, the "Texsport" brand bags at Wally-World (aka "The Great Satan of Retail") may work well and be right in your budget range.
