I would caution anyone using Magic Erasers on the tubes, at least for anything more than the rare need. The primary cleaning function of these pads is abrasion, through its primary material melamine. Melamine principally acts as a fine grain sandpaper to "erase" the problematic stain. As such, you are abrading the tube. Most manufacturers warn against using abrasive materials on their products as your are thinning it over time.
Just a thought. Not sure if it matters once but unless you manage to prevent the aluminum from staining the tubes in the first place the use of a cleaner will be constantly needed, hence my concern.
I have always just accepted the stain on the tubes but I can see how it might be problematic for some, especially with an interest in resale.
