Yeah, yeah... take both. Those eddy lines are horrific. You will learn to be a great boater paddling the New. The playboating in WV is INCREDIBLE. I'm sooo jealous!!

As you progress, you might want a more playful boat (the S6), but isn't the S6 pretty slicey (i've never paddled one)? The S6 might be a little frustrating in the eddy lines of the New if you don't have much experience.
Have a grand time on the New, it is where I learned to paddle. I use to run Fayette Station over and over again, when there was no one to go the whole length of the river with. Or walking down to Lower Railroad and running that and then surfing the river right side was a lot of fun too, and just being able to ferry across the pool above it to get back was super easy!
Don't limit yourself to one boat, bring both, especially if you are driving. You won't be the only one with 2 boats...you actually will be in the minority, I think I had friends who had 4 or more.
