4 piece paddle is stuck

I have a 4 piece Werner paddle that I can break down into two pieces but can't separate the shaft halves from the blades. Does anyone have any tricks? I've tried under cold water, under hot water, with a vice on one side, with multiple people, I've tried banging it to try and separate the two surfaces... Any help is appreciated!

I had a breakdown stuck together for over a year. It needs to be DRY. Spinning ultimately was the ticket for me but making sure the locking button was fully depressed and getting good spin on the paddle simultaneously was tricky. Just keep trying.

Best advise to anyone with paddles not stuck is to keep them clean and broken down and clean well before assembling.

I've been trying for over 6 months now. They definitely dry by now. It was always a little difficult to separate these sections but this time it's stuck bad. I can't get any movement whatsoever... Even tried lube haha. Any other ideas?

I have used wd40 to get them apart. Once apart I scrubbed the shaft with a dry clean green scrubby as was Werner's suggestion and no problems ever since. Hope this helps.

Simple Green

One trick we use with rusty pliers/ vice grips is to soak them in a pretty liberal solution of Simple Green overnight. I've had pliers I couldn't rotate at all come back to life after an overnight soak. Plus, it's reusable.

I know this works, with out ruining your paddle.

stick the paddle in the freezer for a few days and let it freeze solid. then remove it from the freezer and work the blade free from the shaft.

after you get it all apart clean it in mild soapy water, dry it and rub the male ends all the way around with a #2 pencil. the graphite will lubricate the fiberglass.

it will work.

Looks like I'll have to hit the bar with the paddle. How many beers does it take for a paddle to freeze solid.

As the inventor of the freezer-breakdown-paddle process I'd guess you'll need to freeze it for several hours minimum, preferably overnight. We put ours in our deep freeze for 24hrs and then twisted it apart easily.
