Wrapped raft/rope in Dolores/Gateway
Boaters planning to run the Gateway Canyon section of the Dolores River:
BEWARE -- there is a blue 14-foot Maravia oar-frame severly wrapped on a rock in the middle of Rock Slide Rapids, just below Beaver Canyon at river mile 152 (about 11 miles from the Gateway launch). As of Sunday afternoon, there was a rope attached to the boat anchored on the river right bank. It is flagged, but may not be visible from very far upstream.
There is a clear channel on the left side of the river (and raft). The right channel (where the rope is) is too narrow and shallow to pass.
Unable to extract the raft, the owner had to abandon it temporarily and plans to return Tuesday with more tools and (hopefully) less water. Anyone assistance with removing the hazard is welcome.
