Red River Strainer & Mandatory Portage

The Red River has always been synonymous for wood. Due to the very high winds here in the Taos area, there are many more limbs hanging down from the banks AND the is a NEW MANDATORY PORTAGE. Not to long after the three major rapids, a tree has been blown down across the river. Thankfully it is easy to spot at the end of a straight mellowish section and a friendly eddy to take-out and put-in on river right, but heads up! There is also a felled tree across the entire river about 2/3 down the run. VERY HEADS UP! At these lower levels it can be ducked under on the left side, but be ready for boulder field immediately below, or you can run it far far right where some wood has been cleared.
On a whole this is a clean run. Have fun and be safe!
