Paddling the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

Here is the response I got via email from the NPS... What a load of horse feces

Dear Mr Hyde:

We appreciate your enthusiasm for both your sport and for Yellowstone
National Park.

Our task as stewards of this very special place requires us to look at a
wide range of variables when making decisions about appropriate uses of
park areas.

Visitor safety is just one of a multitude of issues we must consider when
evaluating whether a particular activity is appropriate for a given area of
any national park service site. Those can include resource protection and
impacts, visitor use conflicts, management of a given area or activity, and
emergency response.

Many recreational activities permitted in other National Park Service units
are not considered appropriate in Yellowstone. Some recreational
activities permitted in portions of Yellowstone are prohibited in other

access was not an appropriate activity on rivers in Yellowstone National
Park. We have not seen any change in circumstances which would prompt us
to alter that decision.
