Gross Dam Reservoir expansion

I am a sea kayaker but just now my concern is the proposed expansion of the reservoir. It is not necessarily a done deal. The environmental impact statement is out—several pounds of purposefully vague material that fails to address real impact —river lose, forest destruction (20,000-30,000 trees gone), road damage, pollution, etc., with a hidden adgenda - development along the Front Range. Public input is accepted until March 1. I see that in '08 there was some comment about this proposed project so I am letting you know that a group in Coal Creek Canyon is organizing to respond to the impact statement, with the hope of raising important questions and stalling the process. Public response is essential. If you want to get involved please contact Bob Shellenberger at bob.shellenberger@gmail.com.

I understand there is a push to integrate the Windy Gap and Moffat expansion into on EIS. This is important as the Fraser River is really abused by the water diversions and both these together will make it even worse.

Other issues are the high effluent load (from sewage) in the diminished Fraser and the impact this is now having on Grand Lake as well.

Denver does not need more water. If they want balanced flows, reduce the take from Waterton and return that Canyon to our landscape (was a fun run)...

If the expansion does go though I recomend asking for improvements to the streambed bellow Tolland... Fisherfolks would support this as well I expect.
