Boulder Creek Hazards (lower canyon)
Beep Beep Beep. Attention Boulder Creek lower canyon boaters.
Here's the latest report from this evening:
1) The gauge has been recalibrated. Whatever you thought you paddled it at a week ago - the same reading now is a good 150-200 cfs higher.
2) The log 1/4-1/2 mile below Blue Bridge has MOVED. We're 93.5711% sure that the log is now in the broken down bridge abutment just below the dam that's below the Rock cut (V- ish) drop. Once you run the dam (don't get your paddle caught clipped on the bridge above it like I did), start moving to the right and take the channel to the right of the abutment. This can be seen from the road (esp if going downhill)
3) The is ANOTHER nasty log a little bit above the Elephant Buttress. There's a somewhat distinctive rapid as the river bends left that has two holes back to back with an ugly flake rock in the left of center. Immediately after that is a log that extends most of the way across the main channel with a little room of the right to move around it. We took a manky left channel all the way around it to avoid it entirely.
Everything is else is relatively clean with good ducking ability and lots of fun. Enjoy!
