Big South Source TR

There is a unbelievable amount of snow at the headwaters and into the run for this time of year. Flow were medium in the upper section and medium high in the lower section.

This is both good and bad as there will be plenty of runoff left after the gate open but bad because there is a lot of new deadfall in the channel and on the banks from the heavy snowpack. When the flows go nuclear here in a couple weeks a lot of wood is going to change locations. Right now the upper section is relatively clean. We had one close call in the runnout of meltdown but the log in question is not in play if you run the normal line. There is new wood in doldrums that may move downstream as the flows come up. There is new wood in the entrance to PrimeTime Gorge that we portaged from the same location/route as in the past. Below Double Trouble the run was relatively clean but we did portage around two logs that we could normally go under/around.

I would highly recomend any groups that get in there before the gate opens to use EXTREME CAUTION and SCOUT ALL GORGES/LONG RAPIDS to avoid floating into anything serious. There is a lot of hangfire from the big snowpack just waiting on the banks that could/will be moved around with the high flows. THE NORMAL LOW-MEDIUM LINES MAY OR MAYNOT BE POSSIBLE DEPENDANT ON WATER LEVELS AND THE CHANGING WOOD SITUATION. DO NOT TAKE ANY RAPID FOR GRANTED. Be careful, be safe, and have fun.
