Yampa Flow prediction?

We have a permit with put-in @ Deerlodge 06.22.13. Never done this stretch, so questions:
--guidebook says too low for rafts < 1000cfs: true?

--Flow today is below 1000cfs: can you point us to info to allow prediction of where it is likely to be in midJune? Snowpack? etc?

thanks for any help

The Yampa today is flowing at 3200cfs at Deerlodge park. Don't know where you got 1000. Deerlodge is the put-in for a Yampa trip through Dino and is the gauge you want to go off for your trip. Go to the USGS water data website and you can find current data along with averages for any dates from years past. 1000 would be boney for sure and I would not start a trip at this flow in June as water will be on its way down. 6/22 is a fantastic date for a Yampa trip and there should be plenty of water even this year.

My 16 ft Maravia ran Yampa Dino @ 800cfs on Deerlodge gage.
No troubles, beautiful trip in June!
Always look downstream!

You should have plenty of water. There's lots of snow in the Yampa drainage, it's now near normal and the next week is forecast to be cool and wet.

Current predictions are for flows of 3000-7000cfs for that week.

Flow predictions are a risky business. I heard somewhere that this hydrological year will likely analog somewhere between years 2002 and 2007 (may not specifically apply to the Yampa drainage) but that's what it looks like right now which would put June 22 closer to 1000 csf if that.
Our group put on last year in early June with the flow right at 1000 csf and dropping fast. Most of us opted for packing light in small craft--small cats, small rafts, duckys, tandem canoe but the folks in a 15 ft raft with gear did fine. Warm Springs was pretty tight and who knows what the new Warm Spring will look like.
Biggest issue was lots of flatwater and slow current. Defintely request the extra day and be there ready to go morning of your put -in

Perhaps, but there is currently twice the snowpack in the Yampa basin as there was at this time in 2002 or 2007. It would have to be an exceptionally warm and dry spring for it to run off that fast, hence the Colorado Basin River Forecast Center predictions for higher flows that week.
