I was down and did the Salt daily right after it flooded (1/24)- the shuttle road for the daily had a whole bunch of rocks and was definitely washed out at cibique creek. I think I heard the road is better now, but still washed out at cibique... ?

Shoshone? Is it ice free? I just bought a shredder and a new drysuit - I need to try them out. Maybe an end of the month Salt trip?

So after talking to a couple of friends, I think we are going to go run Pilar (Racecourse), near Taos. It is flowing 450 (low), but from these pictures on AW:
American Whitewater - NWRI - Rio Grande 6. Taos Junction Bridge to Embudo Station Restaurant
450 looks like it could be fun. The forecast high doesnt sound too promising at 48, but if sunny and not windy it could be nice. Not to mention it is only 3.5 hours from Salida...
If anyone else is interested that would be awesome.

If you start a new thread on paddling the Race Course you will likely get some of the locals to chime in and maybe to join you. 450cfs is a little low for my raft and the drysuit has not arrived yet or I might be up for joining you.

450 is great for kayaks on Pilar. Very friendly level, lots of play. Have fun, wish I could join you.

Sean, we are doing the salt the last weekend in February. You are welcome to join us. Give me a call...
