This is awesome. Kind of a Barney meets whitewater sound. Wait for the audio to load:

Eagles, Jackson Brown, Gypsy Kings does a sweet acoustic spanish version of Hotel California, Led Zeppelin's Bron'y'aur is a cool acoustic melody, I think you retune to an Open C.

I Wanna Be a Neanderthal by Marc Brown. Unrecorded, most likely.

Looked around for the words but can't find 'em. I think he made it up on a river trip on Cat or the Green. Sort of like a Ramones 2-chord drone. All I remember is the first bit:

I wanna be a Neanderthal,
And live in a cave
And draw deer on the wall.

I'll keep looking. Anyhow, it really works on the Rio, by the light of a fire.

Songs about rivers aren't necessarily the best thing. I did a solo harmonica/vocal rendition of Billie Holiday's God Bless the Child on a Grand trip. Not in the original key. But it worked.

yonder is pretty good too, but you gotta have someone who actually knows how to play or it comes out terrible and then you gotta get up and take the guitar away......yeah, so get somebody good.

i'll get pummeled for this one, but jack johnson is pretty great too. especially if there are river chicks present.......

Ever hear of the bluegrass band "Hayseed Dixie?" That's all this band does is cover AC/DC tunes. Check 'em out. Great covers.

Other artists to consider:
John Prine - "Paradise", "Illegal Smile", heck any JP song
Kate Wolf - "Across the Great Divide"
Stevie Ray Vaughn - "Texas Flood"

Then there's Tool - "Aenema", "Flood", "Undertow"...

Well I shouldn't say that's all Hayseed Dixie does is cover AC/DC tunes. They cover a lot of bands, but they do a hell of a job. Sorry for the double post.
