Space available for a family friendly trip on the lower San Juan June 7th

Hey all.

Yesterday afternoon I scored a canceled permit on the Lower San Juan (Mexican Hat to Clay Hills). The launch date is June 7th, and we'd like to do 5 days.

Kay was running out the door (it was past noon) so she "penciled me in" for the trip, and I have to call her Monday morning to tell her how many on the trip and pay the permit fees. We can have up to 25 people on the permit.

We have some friends here in NM that were going to join us, but the dates don't jive with their schedules, so right now it's just my wife and I and our two daughters (2.5 and 5.5 years old).

We have pretty much all the gear we need (a better fire pan would be nice), but would love to have some other folks with kids join us. Even better if you can let me know by Sunday evening.

Let me know if anyone is interested. We're pretty laid back, would like a hike up slickhorn and planning to have the kids walk Government Rapid. Maybe a layover day if it allows. lots of swimming (it'll be hot!).

Just curious, did you see an available spot on the BLM calendar or did you just call and get lucky? I'm hoping to get a permit for June 12th.

I have a couple families that might be interested. We had applied for a permit this same time period. Is there a number I can call you or can you try giving me a call at 970-468-5150 or 970-418-2482.

July 6 San Juan

Blott, I almost replied to your initial post, then saw the date. I have a few spaces on a similar family friendly trip Launching July 6. Bringing 6 yr old daughter and wife. If anyone w/ similar situation wants to join along let me know. We went last year at the same time and had a blast.
