Slickrock Canyon on the Dolores is high on my list for this season. I would like to put together a group of self-support kayaks and duckies for a low water trip.
Curious what the minimum is people float it at? DeVries and Maurer's Dolores River Guide lists minimum for kayaks and canoes as 250 cfs. Has anyone attempted the river at these flows? Ideally I would like to find enough water to float without getting out and dragging, but low enough water that we wouldn't have much competition for campsites. Thinking try and catch it around 350-400?
Looking at the gauges from last year it looks like it flowed for a short period in March from natural runoff (non-release).
I'm thinking with the way the weather pattern is this year Easter weekend there might be a chance to have a little water...
Does anyone know which tributaries are responsible for the natural runoff?
Any advice or information is appreciated.
