Shuttle Options and Water Level on Main Salmon

We have a group of 10 or 12 headed down the Main the last week of August. We are all going to meet in Lewiston, ID and we have been exploring shuttle options. We were wondering if anyone had been shuttled to the put-in (gear and all) from Riggins or points in between?

Also does anybody know the current level at Corn Creek?

Thanks for any info.

USGS Real-Time Data for Idaho_ Streamflow for current flows. Add the Main Salmon near Shoup to the Middle Fork at the mouth and you get the flow at Corn Creek. Current flow is 3690 cfs, slowly dropping.

I'm launching Aug 17. We're having 2 vehicles shuttled to Carey Creek by Welcome to our website! | Salmon River Shuttles for $330 each. Expensive, but it's the easiest way to go.

When we use Lewiston as a meeting place, we stay at GuestHouse Inn on Main St. Since everyone spends the night there, they allow us to park our extra cars there for the duration of the trip.

Just got home from a Main trip. Launched Friday 7/30 at 1.0 ft. at Corn Creek. Took out Friday 8/6. Absolutely wonderful water level and weather. Great trip. We also use River Shuttles from Corn to Carey. Have used them for a long time with no problems. Water level will be too low to do a jet back (forward?) by your launch date. One heads up.... there is a large log/tree jammed right in the center of the left hand side on Salmon Falls. Very easy to spot from above, and doesn't affect the usual run through the jet boat slot. A few other downed trees in the water around Rhett Creek, but not problematic. Have a great trip.

Was on the Main from 7/30 - 8/3 and used Salmon River Shuttles, we took out at Vinegar Creek a mile before Carey, you miss Vinegar Creek Rapid & Carey Creek Rapid but the this takeout is usually less inhabited and has three boat ramps. Same price for the shuttle to Vinegar Creek as Carey, but a lot less people to navigate getting your gear out of the boat and into the car. After how many days you plan to spend on the water, it is nice to not deal with a bunch of other groups taking out. Also by the time you float occurs the last 20 miles will be slow going and taking out a mile before Carey will actually seem like a luxury. Chittam will require a right side run and the ramps are left at Vinegar, so if you take out there remember to not miss the ramp on the left after Chittam.

Beta on Salmon Falls as well, the middle slot is the best right now, looks tight from above but it is straight forward when you get in it. Right side is open too, but takes a slight pull back off the wall. Tree was in the left slot when we went down, had one boat take that line and he bumped the tree. Not really a strainer, but it is head level and could leave a helluva of a headache for the rest of the trip.

Big hole on the left center at the bottom of Big Mallard right now too, just an FYI.

Thanks for all the information, especially the info about the tree in Salmon Falls. We decided to go with All River Shuttles. They are willing to pick us up in Lewiston, drive us to Corn Creek and pick us up at Carey Creek for the return trip to Lewiston. All for a really good price.

Let us know how you like the service with All River Shuttles. Have a great trip. Ours was awesome. The Main Salmon is my favorite river trip. I've run it once or twice a summer for the past ten years. Always fun.

So for the follow up. All River Shuttles picked our group of 12 up in Lewiston at 7:00 am and took us to Corn Creek. We arrived to Corn Creek around 5:00. Then they picked us up at Carey Creek.

Michelle at All Rivers was great in getting it all organized. The drivers we all nice and drove very safe. We will totally be shuttled and us All River Shuttles again.

I just want to give a shout out to Salmon River Shuttles.

We just got back from running the Main. Before we left home, we put a new transfer case in our truck so that we wouldn't have any problems on the road. (If you have a Silverado in the 2003 range, beware of the wear hole in the TC from the pump assembly). As we were on the road into Corn Cr, the electronics on the TC decides to shift into neutral when ever it pleases. We made it to the put in and left a note for the shuttle driver. River Shuttles took the truck to a repair shop and had the truck at the take. We were very happy to see the truck as we had no idea if it would be there or not.

PS. In the end, we had to spend 3 days in Pocatello getting the TC repaired as the problem returned between Idaho Falls and Pocatello.
Karma is like this: If we set causes in motion the effects come back to us.

Mi'Chelle at All Rivers is awesome. I used her company last week for my Lower Salmon trip and it was all easy.
