Shuttle Help or info for Green River - Labyrith or Flaming Gorge

A friend and I are hoping to raft a section of the Green River, either Labyrinth Canyon (Ruby Ranch to Mineral Bottom) or from Flaming Gorge to Browns Park, and were looking for other people going on similar river trips. We're planning to put in Tuesday March 19th, take-out depends on which run we choose.

Have you done these runs? Is one WAY worth worth doing over the other?

Any way to hitch the shuttle on Flaming Gorge?

If you're thinking of running at a similar time, we'd love to either give rides, coordinate shuttles or split a flight -- most agencies have a two person minimum that we would love to split with you!

Ran GR to MB a couple years ago on kayaks. The Missus dropped us off at GR and picked us up at MB 2.5 days later. We only hiked a couple spots and kept a pretty good pace, something like an average of 5 MPH throughout. There were some little II rapids at the start, and then just drudgery...I imagine in March it'd be pretty slow so no rapids.

I recorded some campsite video on night 1, morning 1, and night 2...entertaining to listen to and psyche you up.

On a sidenote, the trail down to MB can be pretty hairy...make sure your driver is confident!!!

I did Labyrinth on march 19 one year. Had two slightly cloudy, chilly days. And two sunny, really pleasant days. Lucked out with no wind. It's so flat and glassy that it was pretty easy for me to pump out miles in the raft. If its windy then things could be a lot different. Lots of good desert scenery on labyrinth,ESP the second half. Good hiking in spots too. Saw a wicked meteor one night, while camped on the beach at the bend. Its totally flat, but you're there for the scenery and hopefully the sun. Labyrinth isnt Cataract and Flaming Gorge isn't Lodore....but there both great floats. IMO I'm not sure that one is better than the other. Both cool and beat working. FG has few more rapids for sure. Better fishing too.

[QUOTE="Wavewrangler;321799"]We just had a horrible experience with Gil at green river shuttles. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANY REASON! Our cars were not at the take out and when we called him he said he was 45 minutes out of green river and didn't realize we were going to be there. An hour and a half he shows up at swayzes with 4 rigs that are not ours with 4 obviously tweaked out drivers. He can't figure out who we even are he is so messed up. He starts pacing the ramp and blinking his googly eyes. And reaches into his pocket and asks if this was our key. It was!! He said I've been carrying this around for days wondering who's it was. That's when my blood began to boil our cars were still at sand wash. While he was was trying to figure out what to do he said to my wife and a couple other women on our trip to "get out of my hair you F-ers" and if you back me in a corner I'm going to tell you all to F off. Not a lot we could do. He loaded all our stuff in someone else's rigs and drove us to green river to wait at Rays while figured out what to do. He decided hours later to strand us at the motel 6 while he and his meth buddies ran the shuttle. He wouldn't drive us to sand wash to get our own cars because he wouldn't have to give us a refund because he technically ran the shuttle. At 2 in the morning when he finally got back he said we couldn't wait until we slept to unload all our stuff from someone else's trailer. If you know anyone who ran Deso June 7-13ish and owned a white excursion with Mississippi plates or white Tundra or a white 4runner tell them GIL at Green river shuttles used them to drive another groups stuff piled to the brim! DON'T GET GIL'D in GREEN RIVER with your Deso shuttle.
