Don't worry about bugs. Snakes maybe. Ticks yes.
Bugs no. Maybe a few mozzies but nothing bad.
Although I have had insanely good luck with May, June trips on the Selway. I would bring a couple of large
tarps just in case the whether goes crappy. High (er) water and relatively few miles to do per day depending on your schedule, mean a little more camp time than some rivers so it's nice to have a place to hang out.
It is one of the wildest rivers you will ever do. Have a ball.
