Selway beta please.

Hello. I was looking for beta on the Selway. Looking for good camps, camps to avoid, hiking opportunities, and natural or archeological sites to see. The trip is beginning of July, 12 folks, leisurely pace. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

The sweetest outhouse I ever dropped a deuce in is located about half way down, river left on a bench at the end of a grass airstrip.

There is good hiking everywhere on the selway, however the main deterrent to hiking is the ticks and massive amounts of massive rattlesnakes. Seriously there is a lot of snakes. I have seen one in every camp on that river. Hiking up moose can be nice, but if you don't know the river you will be hiking down from moose to scout the Juice! People focus on Double drop and Ladle for obvious reasons but don't sleep on Grizzly saddle rapid after DD or No slouch, also osprey can be tricky. After wolf crack a beer because your pretty much done except for Jim's. Avoid Ballenger creek camp unless you flip one in wolf, it's mainly a backpackers camp. The selway isn't a hotspring/pictograph river like the MFSalmon. It's just an awesome whitewater river in the most pristine wilderness in Idaho. If you stay your first night above Bear Creek be prepared for the most mosquitos you have ever seen in your life, below that it turns into biting gnats and horseflies.
When you spend your life in the rain, you learn to walk between the drops.
