I guess in a kayak it might be. Selway is awesome that's for sure. Forecast still calls for snow all next week in Darby. Not that I trust any of that.
Ya, The rapids turn into multiple small drops. Its not pushy at all. You can pretty much just climb out of your boat and walk to shore in the middle of all the rapids below moose creek. They become more of a maze than a rapid. There just is not enough water to create must make or complex moves. You can almost paddle back up stream in most of the rapids. About 800 cfs is where some of the drops start to appear and maybe then we can talk class 3ish. But you need to double that to get a raft down the river and worry about any of the rapids.
I would rate the upper MFS as more difficult in a kayak at low water. (under 1.5')
If you are concerned about navigating the rapids then you should not even consider it right now! Cold weather is a bigger threat at this point in time. Large sections of river could ice over (most likely not) and block slow sections any time now. Just depends on how cold and how long. The trail out is sweet!
