This is an odd piece of information but one floating the river might want to print off this map as a curiosity.
The Biscuit Fire: Map-Burn areas of the Silver and Biscuit fires
Almost the entire stretch of the Illinois River from near Selma to the Rogue was burned by Oregon's Largest Timber Fire.
The Biscuit Fire burned nearly a half million acres in 2002.
This map also shows the 93,000 acre Silver Fire from 1987.
Your river float will show what we humans commonly label as recovery.
Its just a never ending cycle.
Firefighters don't actually stop fires. They just postpone them. Usually making the level of intensity worse.
