Sandpoint has some good spring creeking in grouse creek, pack river, Lighting creek, and kootenai river. Others too. There's some class 4 play on the koot every now and then. Spokane is an hour away and the spoky seems to always have something to surf (class 2-3 waves and holes).
The schwiz, is spendy and hard to get a good tail gating going on. The moutain is the best one in north idaho as far as fall line falls. There is a nice cornous that develops. But the mountain is usually fucking cold and foggy. If ya got the skills to deal with the weather you will love the schwiz. With in two hours of sandpoint you can ride lookout, silver, spoky, and 49. My fav is look out, good snow cheep and kick ass tail gating and great ppl.
Night life sucks. Locals are slow to warm up but good in the long run. There are 3 girls that live is sandpoint so bring your own. (ha ha but TRUE)
Sandpoint is rapidly turning into a destianation resort.
MTN biking, hiking, fishing all rock and its easy to get away from the crowds.
