Main Chinle is a great spot, left bank (you should have a Navajo permit), about mile 8, IIRC. Bit of a clamber to get up off the water. There were wild burros nearby when we stayed there in late May.
There's also an upper and lower Chinle - haven't stayed at either.
Just downstream from Main Chinle (practically directly across the river), river right, Big Stick is a very large, wide open camp under cottonwoods. But a big spot - might not be too cool for a small group to take it for two nights - and some cow pies.
Further down, Pouroff is a decent spot, river right, and even further is Fossil Stop also river right, after the canyon starts to drop. Sandy beach, plenty of hiking - but wind-exposed and not much shade. Bring a sun shelter if you can.
