Might check the status of 40 before you head out. It may be closed around Flag due to the weather.

Kenny and I(Dave) are heading down from Moab Saturday morning. If we can get past Flagstaff we will be there Saturday late to check stuff out, and will stay while stuff is runable or our wives call us home. Kenny is solid class V and I am reliable class 4. If anyone else is down there try reaching me on cellphone 435-two 6 oh, 1975 and we can hook up for shuttles.

The biggest obstacle is getting through the mountains in AZ the roads have been closed the past two days due to 4' of snow and its still coming down tonight. Its suppose to let up Sat. afternoon but who knows what the roads will be like. The day run from on the upper Salt will not disappoint the BIG water seekers. Do pay the tribal fee as they can jail you and they will fine you till it hurts. Early next week would be the best timing. Fossil Creek is accessed by a long and impassable muddy road. I would be looking at Oak Creek and the daily on the Verde before I took the trouble to drive to Fossil. Dont over look Tonto. Theres three runs there that go from III-V. and two of them have reasonable shuttles. The big point is the roads; the die-hard skiers are not able to get to the slopes yet and boaters will have to deal with all the mud on the access roads for a couple more days.

No - couldn't get anybody to carpool with me on my timeline. Too far to drive solo. I'm really sorry I missed it.
