Salida to Rincon

Looking to take the kids out on a mellow float this weekend. We're on the Front Range and looking for something other than the Upper Colorado.

Is there enough water in the Ark to float Milk Run and/or Salida to Rincon in a 14' raft? Current flows are about 345. Thanks!

It's not 345 in the Milk Run, although that's pretty close for Rincon (they dropped Lake Creek outflows by another 40-50 cfs this morning). It has enough water to float/scrape, but just barely....the fishermen love it, and the commercial float fishing companies are running Salida to Valley Bridge pretty heavily right now. Most of them are in 14'ers or catarafts and are getting down fine....though I wouldn't go expecting any big splashes, just a scenic, slow float.

GARNAs mission is to foster stewardship of the resources of the greater Arkansas River region through education, volunteerism and experiences.

Many thanks for the beta! We're just looking for an easy float, so it sounds good!

Know any riverside camping along this stretch? (not in BLM/Ark Headwaters campgrounds).

The whole area on river left above the take out (river right boat ramp) is BLM and they have out houses and fire rings. Take the road to Wellsville (Left) above Rincon boat ramp, and follow turns from improved gravel road, over cattle grate, unimproved gravel road, go under spray paint bridge go left and look for the tent turn outs, and the last one down is just above Rincon, bam just like that.
I love to dance, but who needs the music- It throws me off.
