Royal Gorge ice?

I know, stupid question, but anyone know if the Gorge would be ice free Sunday (or even) today? Thinking of seeing if I can convince any other fools for a paddle in the cold

I am as dumb as they come, I would go, but like you, I dont know the ice status. I havent been in two weeks either.

let me know what you hear, I will go.

I will try scott and mike, they might know, also logan is keen on the ice updates most years.

There's ice and then there's ICE

As long as it is boatable and bridge free, some ice is fine. I would just prefer to minimize portaging a boat.

Not sure how quickly it freezes over. 2 years did it at this time of year in fun slushy water.

Some of the Pikes Peak Whitewater Club guys were in there Sunday and there wasn't any significant ice, but it's been pretty cold for 24 hrs down here now. I'm sure it wasn't as cold in Canon as it was in BV this morning, but I had -21 at my house...

I can tell you there is LOTS of ice here in Salida I can't imagine it isn't down stream at the Gorge. It is 5 degrees here right now, and dropping fast.

It was totally ice-free on Sunday, but it was frigid in there.
With 48 hours of deep freeze now, I would expect major ice. But I don't know. All I know is it was clear on Sunday.
