Yes Greg, I'm alive and well... just been a lurker of late.
I have to be in Colorado Springs before 4:00pm, so afternoon run is out for me that day.... Looks like another solo trip, no biggy.
For future reference, I'm up for afternoon runs almost every day of the week, other than this one day. I get off work 3:30 or 4:00pm and can meet at the take-out 45 minutes later; sooner if my boat and gear are already with me.
I've been down several times the last couple weeks, the most recent being yesterday and I can tell you that it's at a great level right now. The bony crap is covered, the wave trains are starting to wake up, and the water isn't yet pushy... you can easily make your lines. Surf waves abound. The big scary holes are not there yet. Bird drop was just a ledge drop with an eddy, same as Boateater. I dropped off both with a boof stroke, no problem. The low-water hole at the bottom-right in Sunshine is easy to miss with a huge eddy next to it if you chose to utilize it.
1-1/2 hours to boat with zero play, stopping, or scouting. 2 hours to boat with some minor surfing on the better waves. Your milage may vary if you have a group, scout, eat lunch, streatch your legs,
(swim?
).....
Enjoy your day to anyone headed down.
