river question, Blue or Colorado???

Greetings all,

Family is in from out of state, we're planning on renting a ducky or boat from colo. riv. cen. near rancho, and i'm trying to figure out which is more fun. i've boated down the lower blue (currently running 380) in my kayak, but haven't done the section of the colorado the folks at the river center are sitting on. ? is can anyone tell me which section they think better? ? ?

if we put in at rancho and float the 4 miles down, is that the pumphouse?

Pumphouse is the section above Rancho.

I think the lower Blue is better quality scenery and whitewater then the Upper Colorado in general....but I wouldn't waste my time at 380. My personal cut-off for the lower Blue is 500-600....however, coming from out of state it might be worth it. You would need a Summit County local to confirm this though.

thanks for the comments, i'm from the general area, i've boated the blue around both levels this year and last, I'm leaning toward the blue tomorrow in the afternoon... i haven't boated the colorado but the canyon is too cool... diversion damns at low water, yikes! Thanks!

Hey, pocket- been looking at floating and fishing the blue but have been reading where low water equals trespass issues. I'm reading posts old to new so might not have current info. Is that situation resolved or can yaks miss all of the potential touches and avoid the trespass issue?

The kayak take-out is at spring creek road and takes out before the land with the private property issues. There are still issues - if you raft and float to the Gore put in stay in your boat or take a chance on a trespassing ticket.
