My brother and I ran this stretch about a month ago. Its a beautiful river with awesome camp spots. We didn't have a permit, so we had to go early before the permit regime started. It was cold at night, but worth it!
One word of caution. Try not to drink too much beer and fall down into a ravine full of cacti and contaminate your brand new fleece jacket with 10,000 microscopic, impossible to remove, and very uncomfortable to wear hook-shaped thorns. It could happen. I've got proof.
Anyone out there with thick leather skin need a nice hardly used Arcteryx fleece? Real cheap.
