Play & Class IV Runs Near Glenwood Springs

am appalacian/southeast paddler (gauley, cheoah, chattooga sect iv, tallulah).
travelling to glenwood next month.
have a weekend (july 21/22) in the glenwood springs area.
bringing my playboat w/ and would like to do some river running / playing on something w/in a coupla hours of glenwood.
don't mind running some class iv in my little boat, but wouldn't care to tackle too much more.
could anyone recommend a good section of river?
playspot?
or even better,,, gonna be by myself, so contact w/ any local paddlers that might not mind a tag-along is primo.

Shoshone, not sure how it is at these flows though.

American Whitewater - 07. Shoshone Power Plant, Exit 123 (I-70) to Grizzly Creek, Exit 121 (I-70), Colorado Colorado, US

The town also has a kayak park as well.

Shoshone is the ticket though I think all day wave changed a bit (anyone?). The Crystal would be good if it has water. Check it out on AW. Other than that, doud chute is within your driving radius American Whitewater - 03. Forest Service Visitor Center to Riverbend bus stop, Eagle Colorado, US Again, all water dependent. You'll likely lap the shit out of shoshone.
