Planning September trip, suggestions what river in the west?
We have an annual rafting trip with a group of friends coming up in September. We are based in Jackson and have floated all of the Snake and the overnight stretch of the South Fork together for the last several years. This is the extent of the rafting experience for most of our group.
This year I would really like to plan something that gives them more of the wilderness experience of a multi-day trip, along with more whitewater and time around the river. We are a group of 7 people on 2 big oar boats (one raft one Cat), we have 2 experienced oarsmen with GC and other multi-day experience. We may add 3 more and another boat if it works out. We'll also have some SUPs and tubes for the flat stretches to get people off the boats.
Our perfect trip would include:
-1 dayish or less drive from our home base in Jackson Wy to the put in (that puts us in most of Southern Idaho, Southern Montana, Northern Utah, and Northern Colorado).
-2 to 3 nights of camping on the river.
-Wilderness type experience with hikes and cool camping zones
-whitewater, as much as we can get but we understand most runoff will be low in September, especially this year.
I'm hoping to find advice or suggestions on rivers and sections to float. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
