Participants needed for Salween River Expedition in Tibet, Sept - Oct 2008

Dear Boater,

Last Descents River Expeditions (a Chinese rafting company) and Earth Science River Expeditions (a non-profit research organization) are seeking 1 to 3 oarsmen, 3 to 6 kayakers and 3 to 5 passengers for a first descent of the lower Gyalmo River and second descent of the Salween above Sadeng, NE Tibet, Sept 20 - Oct 14, 2008. The trip leader is Travis Winn, who was co-leader of the June 2007 first descent of the Salween above Sadeng.

Salween above Sadeng is an Alice in Wonderland trip. We expect the same to be true for the Gyalmo River. The Salween is Class 3 and we expect the Gyalmo to be Class 3 as well, but we ask that oarsmen and kayakers have Class 4 experience as a precaution.

The cost is $4500 round trip from Lhasa. See http://www.shangri-la-river-expeditions.com/info/salween9-08.html for a map and details. This is not a commercial expedition.

If you are interested, please contact me as soon as possible.

Please forward this message to anyone you think might be interested.

Thanks, and have a great year on the river.

Pete Winn
