New to Moab

And looking for some partners. I like to run III to IV with my Innova Inflatable. Got all the necessities except knowledge of the area, ran westwater canyon yesterday and it was a blast, right up my alley but I wouldn't mind more challenge. Anyone interested in showing a newb to Utah around. I'm always game and it looks like it's goin to be nice this weekend, lemme kno. Thanks

Not a tremendous amount of white water in that area in my opinion, though lots of gorgeous floating/hiking.
Off the top of my head there is:
West Water
Cataract Canyon
Dolores
Muddy (more of a float)
Dirty Devil (more of a float)
San Juan? (Haven't run- I get a lot of these mixed up with each other. Don't recall if this is a float or has rapids)
San Raf? (Haven't run- I get a lot of these mixed up with each other. Don't recall if this is a float or has rapids)

There are bunches more runs, though I guess it depends on how far you want to drive, and what the water year looks like.

What brings you to Moab? PM me and I can look to get you in touch with a few of my friends there if you like.

Cheers!

San Juan is a mostly a float with a couple Class II and one Class II/III (Gov't Rapids). Lots of fun, though. Here's my trip report from last summer: Trip Report: San Juan May 13 - 17

Writing that response tired I completely forgot to mention the Green River, which I don't know well. Most of it is a float, though I gather there are some sections with a few rapids?

Tons of others on the buzz know much, much more about this river/area than I do.

Bayou- nice trip report complete with lots of vid! Sweet.

Westwater Canyon

Westwater Canyon was a ideal for me in my IK. I could see it being a little tight in a larger craft, especially Skull Rapid, not impossible, but tight. We were warned of potential ice bridges but saw nothing of the sort, plenty of ice on shady banks deeper in the canyon but all in all, highly enjoyable run with some challenging class III waves. I swam once in when my innova K1flipped from a sidewave(I gotta learn how to brace), my buddies in their Packarafts both swam twice. Beautiful canyon, lots of Baldies and putting in at 10:30 gave us lots of sunshine the whole run. gonna be nice this weekend, still lookin for some adventurers.

st2eelpot- I was doing a four corners road trip and my car broke down in Moab, which I hear is commonly referred to as being "Moabized". Seems to be lots of work and lots of country to explore round here so I'm stayin put for at least a little while. Thanks for the references I will PM you as soon as I find out what that stands for.
