Not much is running this late. Keep an eye on Waterton: Waterton Canyon

and Big Thompson: Big T Main Section

Both of these runs are super fun in the fall. Waterton is much mellower than the Big Thompson run. When Big Thompson runs late in the fall and gets some decent flow there are a lot of people getting their asses kicked out there because they are rusty from lack of paddling and it is really cold in that canyon in November.

Most people around the metro area are done for the year except for the guys who like Gore in the fall: Gore Canyon

but Gore is more than you want. Same thing with Bailey, which is not running at the moment but would be more than you want if it were: Bailey

Loveland opened for skiing today. I'm getting my pass sometime in the next few weeks. As the days go by it is going to get harder and harder to try to rally someone to paddle. I know I'm done.

other late season III/IV options...

lower blue - class III - running due to dam release @ medium flow, about 2 hrs from denver

royal gorge - class III at low water - running very low but still runnable. Cool canyon. about 2.5 hrs from denver

Shoshone - class III, very short, 2.5 hrs from denver

Its a lot further, but westwater is a really nice class III desert canyon run at the co/ut state line. Primo late season run.

Pretty slim pickins this time of year. There are a few who still get out though...

I'd love to show you down Royal Gorge some time in the next few weeks. It's just what you're looking for right now, and I love showing people their first time down a new run.
I have a buddy in Littleton that does late-season Gorge runs with me, too.
I can do some Wednesdays -- potentially even next Wednesday, if the weather is at all reasonable and you can go early ... Yeah, that sounds kinda good.
Let me know if you're interested in Wednesday, Oct. 14 for Royal G.
