I would think you want to spend a day on a similar river, work your way up to an overnight trip, and then gradually work towards multiday
Your other thread mentions several months to prepare. Even if this is a tame stretch of river, i advise you log some experience working up to it

Yeah, between the tent, food, and gear, I'd say it'd be about 60-70 pounds. We want to go in May, though we could push that back if it's better.
I don't have much rafting experience, though I do have some boating experience. I was, for a time, a certified lifeguard; I've taken all kinds of safety and CPR classes, and I did grow up in the middle of the woods, so I have some experience roughin' it.
We're going to prepare by making some smaller day trips.
