Need help/options near Smith River?

Iam flying into Helena Mt on July 14 to float Smith River but it looks too low. Does anyone know of a river close by to float, fish and camp for 3-4 days. I am thinking about the Green by Pindale. ROCKSPLITER

North fork of the Flathead or Missouri breaks might work for you. The former has incredible views of Glacier park and class II rapids. Haven't done the latter but I think its flatwater with gorgeous scenery. Have no idea about fishing.

I don't have any first hand knowledge, but I've heard of people doing overnights on the Yellowstone River.

You can do 1 overnight on the Madison below bear trap canyon and it should be good fishing. To bad about the smith flows it is a great trip!

The North Fork of the Flathead is always our backup plan when we don't get a Smith permit or it's too low. Great trip- highly recommend. Make sure you get baked goods or dinner in Polebridge. Take DEET and bear spray.
If you lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known. Winnie the Pooh

I would recommend either the North Fork of the Flathead or the Middle Fork of the Flathead. If you really went slow you could turn both into 2 night trips. Another option would be to run the Clark Fork from near Missoula to Paradise Montana, not much for rapids but the fishing should be good.
