middle fork salmon camp sites

Hey I drew a middle fork permit and was wanting some input on campsites.. I have heard there are no bad ones but some are definatly better than others... We have a fairly small group at around 12-15... And I am thinking four foot level for June 23... I am thinking short first and last day..

Hey, I got that info. But it would be better just to take me along and show you.

Seriously though, you really wont have alot of choices when it comes time to float. You show up the day before and they tell you where you will be camping and what time you will launch. Now you have some say, but you don't get to just plan your trip. the rangers are making sure everything goes according to thier plans. You'll need to just roll with it.. lean about the canyon and what to do at all the camps.

Well since I'll be on the river during that time and possibly competing for campsites with you, I highly highly recommend Grassy Flat I and II. Nice and sunny and guaranteed to be available. (tic)

I would say first day Sheepeater, it's open and a pretty easy first day, 14 miles. If that's taken I'd stay above it at Scout. Pretty nice camp with a lot of room for a group your size. Last night? Otter if it's open, which it most likely will not be. I'd say Cliffside or even Cradle. I don't like Ship (Rat) Island much. Have a great trip, and who knows what the flow will be, it's setting up to be another great water year.
