Low water WW/Ruby-Horsethief?

Just curious how long it will take to run Ruby-Horsethief at these super low levels. Any one done it recently? Also, any different lines or heads up for these levels through Westy? Thanks

I wouldn't call 3000 super low. The lines in Westwater are all the same. The rapids between Marble Canyon and Skull have some pourovers, but everything is more or less down the center. Sock it to me is big but I just punch it right down the middle with lots of speed.

Ruby Horsethief is very wind dependent at these levels, especially below the Black Rocks. I've gotten through in 10 easy hours, or 20+ miserable hours if the wind is howling. I wouldn't want to blow through RH in a day, but Mee Canyon or the Black Rocks to Hades Bar is a reasonable day, especially with an early start to avoid the afternoon wind.

the biggest rapid at that level is 'sock it to me', unless you go big at 'skull'. i run that (sock it to me) down the middle and position my raft to the right at the 1 to 2:00 o-clock angle, as the big wave has a lateral lean to it that will flip a boat at that level.

Ran WW last Oct @ 3500 in my kayak in about 8 hrs, including a nice lunch break. A gentle breeze of a headwind(10-15 knots) for the flatwater, we yakkers just kept paddling and beat the rafts by a good ways to the takeout.
