looking for a kayakers near Bailey

I recently moved from upstate NY to the Bailey area. I'm available most days.

I haven't kayaked for a few years so I'm looking for a class III/IV run to get back into it.

I don't know the rivers in the area and I'm looking to tag along on a trip.

Start with your backyard run, Bailey.....later in the summer there will be crews running it everyweekend.

Bailey is good, otherwise keep an eye on the boards for after work clear creek runs.

Good Place to live....

On the North fork of the South Platte, you get Bailey Canyon as mentioned in the other posts: IV with a touch of V and just down stream is Foxton/Boulder Garden for your III with a touch of IV. Foxton ends with the confluence with the South Platte. Down stream is The Waterton Canyon run for more III and if it's high enough you could call it IV. Upstream on the South Platte side is the Deckers run which is class II with a III climax at the chutes. Farther-farther upstream is Cheeseman Canyon for your V-VI and above that you get 11-mile Canyon. 11-Mile has a V at the top, a V at the bottom and several miles of class II, III and IV mixed between making for a great place for all level of boater.

Welcome to Colorado.

You're also about an hour away from the Arkansas River (south on 285)...which has a number of quality runs for every skill level, not to mention a fairly long season (by CO standards). You could easily find people to show you down any of the runs on the Ark...and while in Buena Vista, you could stop by CKS to pick up a guide book. As Ed said, a good place to live...lots of options within an hour's drive, and one of the best class IV+/V- runs in the state right in your back yard.
