Kayaking from Moab Thru Lake Powell

Alright so I have some time on my hands and I'm thinking of Kayaking from Moab thru cataract canyon or the San Juan to Lake Powell and then paddling the length of Lake Powell. I have always wanted to do this and i'm wondering if anyone has done this or has recomendations. I went to lake Powell as a kid for 12 years so i'm pretty familiar with the lake and what i will encounter. I'm thinking about leaving late September.

Any help would be appreciated?

Think BIG

San Juan to lake powell?

You're not going to be able to access the lake from the river, Unless you go past the take-out at Clay Hills. If you have ever seen the size of the waterfall three miles down from there you won't try it.
Coming from Cat to Bullfrog though is totaly do-able. although in a kayak thats alot of paddlin. Do you have Raft support? Do you want some?My time on that trip is usually 19-20 days.

I got curious and found some pictures of the waterfall (Paiute Falls) on the San Juan downstream of Clay Hills. Here is a link:

I forgot about the waterfall although it looks to be easily portaged. I sorta like the idea of starting in Moab just because of Logistics. I looking to do it totally self supported. I know that i can stop at the marinas to re-supply on certain things. I'm planning on putting in some big days of paddling also so I think i could keep the trip down to 10-12 days. Has anybody done this??

I will be in BC for two weeks prior and just looking for something to relax on for the end of the summer/fall season. I've always enjoyed Lake Powell and the Cataract Canyon and figured it would be a good link up. I'm now figuring about 8 days of paddling to link it.

My business is in between seasons so the next two months are for playing!
