info on lower North Fork of Gunnison

We were hoping to get on the Sommerset run of North Fork of the Gunnison tommorow, but flows are still kinda high to catch the bottom half of Anthracite creek along with the run. I was wondering if anyone has ever run the North Fork below Sommerset to Paonia. Just wondering about fence issues. Update would be good. Also wondering if anyone has heard about the status of the road next to the Lake Fork of Gunnison, is it open? Talking about the Redbridge section. Thanks

if you go from somerset (one M) down to Paonia be aware of the fire mountain canal just downstream, its chunky and shitty. cant say from there down although i would bet its not classic. high water may have taken care of any fences...

i would be very surprised if the road down the Lake Fork is closed right now. that area melts much earlier than the headwaters (where the water comes from) and is usually open this time of year. dont know, could be wrong, but again, would be really, really surprised to hear that it isnt. 389 is ok but not great. stay away under 500 (at least) if you are pushing rubber. would suggest waiting a little bit until it climbs above 600 or so. it gets really fun above 1000
