The little Salmon is not a class III rafting day run in May. The little salmon during spring flow (3,000+) has a large Class V ledge drop in the middle called the amphitheater hole. It is possible to put in lower below this feature. However, this run can be very swift, continuous, and has more of a creeky feel i would say class IV stuff in spring.
If you are looking for day runs the Main Payette system is awesome and mellow III with IVs up on the south fork payette. In May the lochsa is a fav for many for a reason.
