Help a newb pick a trip

So on aug 8th my 15 y/o son and I took a trip out of Gardiner MT on the Yellowstone river. We had a blast and "Flying Pig" did a great job, excellent first trip but......... we want more excitement for our next trip the following season.
We are based out of Bismarck Nd, I think Mt, Utah, Colorado and wyoming would be do able for us for a long weekend trip. We don't own any white water gear and I don't think given our geographic location and frequency of trips buying gear would be economical for us. So I am looking for a full day maybe overnight trip and a guide service. And the best time of the year for good water levels for a given run.
Thanks for any help, and thanks for making me jealous of all the awesome rivers I don't have axcess to but get to read about on here .

Middle Fork of the Flathead in the middle of July. Awesome whitewater and lots of guide services.

If you lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known. Winnie the Pooh

my vote would be for the lochsa early to middle june.

It's just outside missula, mt. the river is in idaho. great whitewater. Class IV. beautiful. Some outfitters used to do an overnighter on it. Check out three rivers lodge/outfitter. there are a bunch in the area though. they just have a nice camp/cabin area at the end of the run with a hot tub.
