Gunny Gorge Info

Hey my girlfriend did a staff trip on the gunny gorge with a bunch of hyside mini-mes several years ago and I would also like to do it. I don't have a raft that small and she said they had to pack all of their gear down on horse/mule and I was wondering if that was the only put-in? Main question is...will we have to a have horse/mule take our gear down if we want to run this section. Appreciate all beta

Yes, unless you want to carry it down yourself. There is no drive up put-in.

Just take your kayak. Lots of fun surf. Much easier to carry than a raft.

the hike is not to bad though its only a mile. and totally worth it. getting to gunny gorge is kinda like earning your turns when you are skiing back country. the gorge is amazing

pack lite and hike your stuff in! the big pain is usually the raft, we have taken a 14 ft down a few times and found it wasn't to bad to roll it and strap it between two oars. another thing i have seen are metal back back frames that can be used to carry a variety of things. go early and plan on a few trips down to get all your stuff in

Our crew took a few full sized rafts and camping gear before. Sure it sucked carrying everything down, but it was well worth the 1-2 hours of work in my opinion.

gunny gorge

We usually get there Friday night. We carry down most of the gear, as well as a couple of cold ones once you get to the put in. Saturday morning we carry down the rest of the gear. Definitely worth the hike.
