Grape Creek Just Spiked!

So Grape spiked at about 250 (theoretically low, runnable according to EddyFlower). It dropped down to 140 but looks like it's going to swing back up. I think if you got on it in the morning, you could ride the bubble and get a run in. If the guage is right (anyone have a visual?) I'd be up for checking it out. If you wanna go, call me. If I can get a couple people, I'm thinking of heading down tonight and camping somewhere nearby for an uber-early start. Get'erdone.

You want more water. Also take out at Temple Canyon. Do not waste your time floating down to the Ark. Good camping along grape at temple.

Looks like its at 234 this morning and moving down. Any cut off point for the flow ... CRC gives a good description and the gauge on EddyFlower looks on time ... just need mention of 'how low can you go ... or ... how low have you gone on Grape.' Adkins you around Denver this weekend?

I think I've heard that it's not worth it below 250 but you can make it through down to 150. And there's definitely something weird going on whenever someone tries to post a gauge graph. It's peaking at midnight and the plummeting so it seems that you'd have to get it when it peaks high enough that the valley is around 250 to have good flows the whole way down. Also looks like you'd want a sunrise launch to get the most out of flows. Anybody who's done have any info on what it was like and how they did it?

With Bear running like it is, I'm not sure anyone would argue that it's worth it at 200 or even 250. There's a ton of flatwater and the crux section is short & manky. And I mean very manky- seives, undercuts, and all-around weirdness. And it's only about 200-300 yards long. We had some bad beta and hit it very low and I would say that it would take 300 cfs and nothing else running to make me want to get back in there. I might be more inclined if it weren't so far away; i.e. if I lived in the Springs. It is a pretty canyon, and the rapids that are there are unique. Check out some of the shots on Alex's site www.merelyafleshwoud.com
