Grande Ronde Beta???

Looking at doing Minam to Wildcat Bridge (powatka). Are there any can't miss side hikes up the creeks, can't miss camps, or other interesting historical places? Does anybody know if you have to pay to park at Powatka Bridge take out? Thanx in advance

Sliprock is a pretty sweet camp you can hike around and find old farm machinery hidden around the brush.

No cost to park. There really aren't any must see hikes, except for the trail up the ridge at Bear Creek. As far as camps there all really good. TriBri, where are you getting the name for a camp? I have never seen or heard a camp having a name besides the ones by creeks.
There is a plaque on Rondowa bridge(first bridge river left) that is pretty interesting and makes for a good lunch spot.

Oops, sorry got the name wrong. I have my mile by mile guide in front of me now. The camp is Sickfoot, Mile 58.5 on the right, Grande Ronde)

There are a few farm relics on the lower bench near the river. You can follow up an old skid road to the upper bench and there are a few more pieces of machinery.

Hoodoo, mile 58.75 on the left,(Grande Ronde)) is nice as well and you could potentially hike up the ridge and get a nice overview of the valley.

At Mile 67 there is a camp on an island. It is good for a small group. I think there are tent spots for 4-5 tents if you don't mind being close. You can land on either river left or river right of the camp.

and hand8272, I got the names from other people who were on the trip. It seems like most of the camps have local names, but not published names. In most cases it is the name of the closest stream.

We always float to the end (snake), senic the whole way, 2 short pretty fun rapids at the end 20 minutes before take out. Only have to pay for parking on the wash. side, dumb state park sticker, pain in the ass but the shuttle dudes might help you out. Troy store has good burgers, nice people, beer and ice for sale as well. Like the other guys said, no bad camps, good views atop hoodoo like tribri said.

The camps are many and very nice.

There are hikes up the ridge in several spots.

One odd thing you might be interested in is taking the longer dirt road back to Minam to see the Shilo Ranch.
It is absolutely beautiful up on the ridge above the Grande Ronde.
This is possibly an Oregonian only item of interest.
