First off, if you are in any way a respectful and smart boater you won't follow this advice. Patches, you actually think it is okay to just bury your poop in one of the most beautiful, spiritual, and delicate places we have? You have to pack it out like everyone else that goes down there. There are thousands of reasons why your poop doesn't belong in the Grand Canyon. Leave No Trace. And self supporting the Canyon in a kayak without a spare PFD sounds just nuts. Buckles and straps break all the time without warning. Being in the ocean that is the Colorado without a PFD sounds like a death wish. You never know what will happen down there.
