GORE Sunday 11-8

We have a crew heading up from the Front Range on Sunday. Interested in seeing if anyone else is going so we could coordinate a shuttle. We got a car of 4. Planning to be at Pumphouse around 11:15-11:30.

Thanks -

Brian

Not to be a doubter, but 400 would be a new low for me by 250 or so. Loose. Have a good run.

Ran it today. Good fun especially since it's the only thing going. You can paddle around all sandbars and it is pretty dang cool to see what makes up the rapids. I would do it again at 400. Gore and Kirschbaum are like rock labyrinths.

Brian, I'm looking at taking Nick down his first Gore trip as long as he isn't feeling too sick, plus four other probable people. 11:30 would be a good time, but I need to talk to others about time first. As soon as I can find out for sure I'll let you know.

Joe you should get Tom and head on over. I hear 400 is a fun time in there.

Patrick, We are hoping to head up in one rig and then share a shuttle. Give me a ring when you can.

Weather is calling for 57 and rainy ... sounds like dry suits.

400 is still fun. Did it that low early season. All the rapids can still be run, and all the favorites are still fun. Its got more of a creeky feel at 400, but enough water to not be bouncing off rocks every minute due to the deep channels. Gore w/ snow in the canyon is a cool sight as well.

Before I did it at 400 I would have guessed it would suck at that level, but after giving it a shot, I had a good time, and I plan on running gore early (mar/apr) and late (oct/nov) every time I can.

Would it be better to see it of the first time at 400 or 1000?

Depends on your skill level, honestly. If you a good IV+ to V- boater, I say going at 1000 is fine. If you're looking to step your way up though, I say 400 to 600 is a great entry level. My first time was around 1200, and while it went fine, I've boated it between 400 to 600 three times. As a result I've decided it's a better intro level for people who aren't paddling IV+ & V- on a regular basis. I would not recommend it for your first IV+ run though.

What a great day! Sunshine, decent temps and still good whitewater. It was cool to see new lines run like left at Applesauce, right sieve line, rock grind/boof and 360 rock splat at Pyrite, and the Tunnel shitshow, with a 28% fail rate. Someone is going to keep swimming until he drinks that booty beer. And at Kirschbaum I ran my longest line ever, catching all sorts of eddys. 420 cfs is still GOOD! And what's this about Captain Mank not running it lower than 650? We're gonna have to bust you down to private!
